Volunteer

Volunteers provide invaluable support to improve access to the archive.

We offer opportunities to volunteer in-person at Cherry Park, sorting, cataloguing, cleaning and re-packaging documents, transcribing or creating digital images.

You can also volunteer remotely to transcribe a document from a digital image.

You don’t always need any specialist skills or experience: interest, enthusiasm and attention to detail go a long way, and we can always provide specific training. If you do have particular skills or expertise, however, please let us know and we will try make use of them.

We also need volunteers to support the Friends. If you have experience of fund-raising or social media expertise, please do let us know.

If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch via the Contact Form.  As the archive has limited space, you may not be able to start straight away, but we will add your name to the waiting list and involve you as soon as possible.

We arrange regular online meetings for volunteers, usually with a training aspect, and all volunteers benefit from a discount in the Castle tea-room and shop, and enjoy a free family visit to the Castle each season.Â
