Argyll Estates Archives is back for Doors Open Day 2025 on Saturday 20 September! This ticket is for the FREE pre-bookable tour of the archive stores commencing at 12:30 p.m. These tours are limited to 12 places, so book now to secure your space.

Here is a list of what’s happening on the day:

10:00-14:00 Drop-in: Meet the archivists, see (and touch & feel) an exhibition of unique historic documents from the archives and a rolling PowerPoint explaining the history of the collection. Please note that it will not be possible to accommodate individual research appointments on Doors Open Day.

Pre-bookable tours @ 10:30 and 12:30: Going ‘behind the scenes’ in the archive stores to see more of this unique historical collection and how it is preserved.

15:00-17:30 Tunes in the Archives: A traditional Scottish music session. Bring a tune, a song or a story to share.

Please note, if you are lucky enough to be under 16 years of age, you must bring an adult with you to the archive. No unaccompanied children will be admitted.
